Undergraduate Programmes and Higher Diploma

Undergraduate degree programme

The core of the School’s undergraduate programme is a four-year degree of Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Communication (will be retitled as Bachelor of Communication (Honours) programme starting from academic year 2016-17), which comprises general education courses, general electives and major studies preparing students for roles in a wide range of media, creative and communication career.

For 2015 and previous intakes, students can opt for the following four Majors:

Film and Media Arts Major

- Film Concentration
- Media Arts Concentration

Journalism Major

- Chinese Journalism Concentration (including Broadcast Journalism)
- Financial Journalism Concentration
- International Journalism Concentration

Organizational Communication Major

Public Relations and Advertising Major

For 2016 intake onwards, students can opt for the following three Majors:

Film Major

- Animation and Media Arts Concentration (Starting from academic year 2017-18, the Animation and Media Arts Concentration will adopt the programme-based admission and there will be no Majors/Concentrations allocation for the Animation and Media Arts students.)
- Film and Television Concentration

Journalism Major

- Chinese Journalism Concentration (including Broadcast Journalism)
- Financial Journalism Concentration
- International Journalism Concentration
- Data and Media Communication (will be offered starting from academic year 2018/19)

Public Relations and Advertising Major
:
- Advertising and Branding Concentration
- Organizational Communication Concentration
- Public Relations Concentration

Higher diploma

  • Professional Programme in Film – This course covers skills and knowledge of script writing and directing, production techniques, post-production and acting for film and television.
