HKBU presents premiere gala of My Prince Edward
with alumna and director Norris Wong sharing her creative journey


The Academy of Film at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will present the premiere gala cum director’s sharing for the movie My Prince Edward tomorrow (11 June), which is distributed by Golden Scene Company Limited. Director of the film and an HKBU alumna Miss Norris Wong Yee-lam, Producer Mr Chan Hing-kai and the cast of the film will attend the event. HKBU Academy of Film Director Professor Eva Man Kit-wah, film critic Pierre Lam Chun-yue and Norris Wong will exchange ideas on film production at the post-screening sharing session.

 

Director Norris Wong is a 2012 graduate of HKBU’s Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media programme. She won the Best New Director award at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards with her debut My Prince Edward. The film was one of the winning entries in the Higher Education Institution Group at the 4th First Feature Film Initiative, and it received funding from the Government’s Film Development Fund to support the production. Norris Wong is the third Academy of Film graduate to have won the competition.

 

Set in Golden Plaza, a shopping mall well-known for an abundance of bridal shops and budget wedding suppliers in the Prince Edward district, the film explore the pressure on women to get married in modern society. You can click here to view the film’s trailer.

 

The film has also won several other awards, including the NETPAC Award, which was co-presented by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and the Network for the Promotion of Asia Pacific Cinema. In addition, it was given the Best Screenplay and the Recommended Film awards by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society, and Norris was named the Best New Director by the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild.

 

Apart from Norris, the main cast and production team of My Prince Edward will also join the premiere and share the journey of the film’s production. You are cordially invited to cover the event.
