HKBU invites SOPA Award winners to forum on investigative journalism



To promote journalism education and its development in Hong Kong and Asia, the Department of Journalism, which is part of the School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), will host the HKBU-SOPA Award Winners Forum 2019 from 21 October to 25 October. Six winners of the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards for Editorial Excellence will share their experiences and knowledge with HKBU teachers and students, media professionals and the public. The SOPA Awards are regarded as the most prestigious news awards in the Asian media industry.

The six SOPA Award winners include:
 Mr Andy Lin, Data Journalist at The Straits Times, member of the winning Excellence in Journalistic Innovation 2019 team
 Mr Chieu Luu, Executive Producer of Video at the South China Morning Post, member of the winning Excellence in Video Reporting 2019 team
 Mr Elroi Yee, Deputy Executive Producer at R.AGE in Malaysia, member of the winning Excellence in Journalistic Innovation 2019 team
 Ms Jin Wu, Visual Editor at The New York Times, member of the winning Excellence in Journalistic Innovation 2019 team
 Ms Natasha Khan, Reporter at The Wall Street Journal, member of the winning Honourable Mention in Journalistic Innovation 2019 team
 Ms Victoria Milko, Multimedia Journalist at Frontier Myanmar, member of the winning Honourable Mention in Human Rights Reporting 2019 team

An opening ceremony and public forum, which welcomes participation from members of the public and media professionals, will be held tomorrow. The details are as follows:
