HKBU School of Communication to organise a conference on "Chinese Culture on the World Stage"
China is now the second-largest economy in the world but the international impact of Chinese culture does not reflect that reality. Thus, a conference on "Chinese Culture on the World Stage Conference" organised by the School of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will be held tomorrow to discuss the current Chinese government policy of "going out" and the problems of presenting Chinese culture to an international audience.
The conference's keynote speaker will be Mr. Ouyang Changlin, President of Hunan Broadcasting System. Mr. Ouyang is the leader of one of the most successful provincial level broadcasters in China and has helped develop their international strategy. Another keynote speaker is Ms. Huang Yan, Director of China Features, Xinhua News Agency. Ms. Huang is a senior journalist with Xinhua News Agency, responsible for editing/writing English-language features about China for an international audience.
