Journalism Students and Graduates Win 12 Campus News Awards
The Department of Journalism at the School of Communication achieved remarkable success in the 2024 Campus News Awards hosted by the China Daily Hong Kong Edition. Twenty-four students and alumni clinched a total of 12 awards spread across nine categories, including 2 Winner titles, 7 First Runner-up honours, and 3 Second Runner-up positions. Their awards surpassed those of over 90 universities from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Mainland China, setting a new record for the most prizes ever won in the competition's history.
Among the awardees, fresh graduate Zhong Zimo won the title of Winner in the Best in Business News Reporting (English) category, while another fresh graduate, Tse Man, garnered the Winner title in the Best in Data Journalism (English) category. Other award-winning categories included Best in Headline Writing (Chinese), Best in News Reporting (English), Best in News Writing (English), Best in Tech News Reporting (English), Best in News Video Reporting (English), Best in Features Video Reporting (English), and Best in Short Video Reporting (Chinese-English Merger).
HKBU also received the “Most Active Participation Award”. The award-winning stories were published on two news platforms, San Po Yan and The Young Reporter, run by the Journalism students.
