School of Communication and Tsinghua University’s School of Journalism and Communication Extend Partnership to Deepen Educational and Research Collaboration

Professor Zhong Bu, Dean of School of Communication, warmly welcomed a visiting delegation from the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University (THU) on 28 November. This visit serves as a gesture of reciprocation following Professor Zhong's previous visit to THU in May this year, demonstrating a strong institutional commitment to deepening the collaborative partnership between the two Schools.

The delegation group comprised Professor Zhou Qingan, Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, Dr Zhang Zheng, Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Research at the School of Journalism and Communication, and Ms. Li Chengzhang, Officer of the International Affairs Office.

Earlier in September, the two Schools had renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Building upon this foundation, Professor Zhong Bu and the visiting delegation engaged in wide-ranging discussions covering the co-establishment of a data laboratory, the initiation of collaborative research projects, the joint application of research funding, faculty and doctoral student exchanges, as well as graduate student exchange programmes. The group reached several agreements that lay a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in the future.

Professor Zhong also took the opportunity to provide an overview of the latest developments at the newly established AI Media Centre (AIM). Joining him from the School of Communication were Associate Deans Professor Wei Ran and Professor Kara Chan, Professor Regina Chen, Head of Department of Communication Studies, Professor Raymond Li, Head of Department of Journalism, and Dr. Jolie Shi, Co-Director of AIM. Ms. Jenny Li, Director of HKBU’s University Engagement Office, was also present.
