Associate Dean Professor Kara Chan nominated for 2020 UGC Teaching Award

Standing at the forefront of the course-based undergraduate research experience pedagogy, Professor Kara Chan, Associate Dean of the School of Communication, has designed and implemented more than 40 innovative class research projects since 1993. Professor Chan’s devotion and contribution have earned her nomination for the 2020 UGC Teaching Award organised by the University Grants Committee (UGC).

Through a rigorous process undertaken by a Selection Panel convened by Professor Marilee Bresciani Ludvik of San Diego State University, Professor Chan was selected as one of the seven finalists. Professor Ludvik said, "The nominees' passion for teaching and efforts to pursue teaching excellence were impressive."

The annual UGC Teaching Award was introduced in 2011 to honour university teachers who excel in teaching and have made exemplary achievements in the UGC sector. The Award also recognises the teachers' leadership in and scholarly contribution to teaching and learning within and across universities. This year there were 17 outstanding nominees.
