Journalism Student wins three start-up awards

Journalism student Jessie Kwok (Financial Journalism, Year 2) and her partners developed an online platform entitled LeDo Ads which provides a platform for firms searching for offline advertising spaces. This start-up recently won the Hong Kong Young Entrepreneur Award 2016, the Best Creative Award presented by Hong Kong Young Entrepreneur Association, and the Top 10 Finalist Award presented by HKIEF Roadshow, part of the Hong Kong International Entrepreneur Festival (HKIEF) 2016.

Jessie said, “Unused space can easily be found everywhere, and this provides a huge potential for small and medium enterprises in need of space for their print advertising. The online platform we developed properly addresses the needs of both sides – discovering potential advertising locations and enabling firms to use a limited budget to engage their target customers in suitable advertising locations.” One of her successful cases involved the use of advertising table stickers in a dessert shop which enabled a drama organiser to attract a total of 400 click rates from young target customers in one month.

Jessie said that her participation in the University’s Business Entrepreneurship Support and Training Programme helped her develop her business acumen through experiential learning and pitching opportunities.
