HKBU-MU Double Degree Programme
Introduction
This is a four-year full-time undergraduate programme whereby students study at the two universities, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and The University of Missouri (MU), and graduate from both. Upon completion of all graduation requirements, students will obtain two bachelor’s degrees, namely Bachelor of Communication (Honours) conferred by HKBU, and Bachelor of Journalism conferred by MU.

Duration
Students are required to study for around 4 years, the first two years at HKBU and the following two years at MU.

Programme Structure
The double degree programme combines the essence of the existing undergraduate programmes of HKBU and MU, with the aim to equip students with communication and broad general knowledge, ethical expertise, multimedia, analytical and critical thinking skills necessary for students to adapt and thrive in a changing global environment.
In order to fulfil the graduation requirements of respective programmes, students are required to complete 128 units at HKBU and 120 units at MU respectively. For the double degree programme, the minimum number of units to be taken at each of the two universities during the study period is at least half of the total number of units required by the respective programmes, i.e., 64 units at HKBU and 60 units at MU. The remaining units required for graduation will be fulfilled through transfer of units or course exemption by completing equivalent courses in the other institution.
Eligibility
- Year One students of Journalism and Digital Media Major, and Public Relations and Advertising Major.
- Attain cGPA 3.2 or above

(IETLS - overall score of 7.0 and at least 6.0 in each sub-band; TOEFL - oversall score 100; Duolingo - overall score of 120 in with total scores of 3 out of 4 sub-bands no less than 90 )
Tuition Fee
HKBU Local students will pay the local tuition fee i.e. HKD42,100 per annum. The School will sponsor the tuition fee difference between MU and HKBU subject to students’ satisfactory academic performance, i.e. pass all subjects (to be reviewed annually).
HKBU non-local students will pay the MU tuition fee on a self-financing basis. In 2020-21, the MU tuition fee is USD23,646 (HK$183,300) per year. Please visit here.
Other Expenses
Apart from the tuition fee, enrolled students have to bear the costs of accommodation, living expenses and other associated costs of studying abroad. Students have to ensure that they have sufficient funds to cover the costs of their whole study period in the United States before enrolling in this programme.

Financial Support
The School will provide one-off travelling subsidies (economy fare) for each enrolled student of this programme.
