COMM brownbag on Al lmaginaries: Multidisciplinary Opportunities and Future Investigation

 

The first COMM Brownbag event, titled "Al lmaginaries: Multidisciplinary Opportunities and Future Investigation", took place on 29 February, 2024. Scholars from diverse fields came together to share their invaluable insights, experiences, and thoughts on the profound implications of AI in different disciplines.

The lineup of speakers and their topics included:

* Prof Bu Zhong (Dean of School of Communication): AI imaginaries and their impact on our digital future

* Dr Kelvin Lee (Associate Head of Department of Interactive Media): Generative emotional experiences through AI algorithms

* Dr Liang Lan (Senior Lecturer of Department of Interactive Media): Evolution of human skills in the age of AI

* Dr Ivan Li (Assistant Professor of Department of Interactive Media): Leveraging AI to transform textual data into actionable insights

* Dr Yuner Zhu (Research Assistant Professor of Department of Interactive Media): AI alignment for trustworthy superintelligence

The event also included engaging discussions where participants exchanged ideas and gained a deeper understanding of the multidisciplinary aspects of AI. Moreover, Dr Charles Feng (Associate Professor of Department of Interactive Media) took the opportunity to briefly share the exciting news of the upcoming establishment of AI Media Lab. This new platform is dedicated to exploring how AI can revolutionize human communication.
