Communication scholars and student win three top paper awards


Two scholars and a MPhil student from the School of Communication have scooped three top paper awards at the 70th Annual International Communication Association Conference, which is widely regarded as the largest academic event in the fields of media and communication.

 

Dr Celine Song, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism, won the Top Faculty Paper award in the Mass Communication Division with a co-authored paper. The title of the research paper, of which she is the lead author, is “The Mechanisms of Profanity Diffusion in Online Discussion: The Context of Hong Kong”.


Dr Eva Zhao, Assistant Professor of the Department of Communication Studies, received the Top Faculty Paper Award in the Public Relations Division with her co-authored paper entitled “Organisational Openness, Public Engagement, and Organisation-Public Relationships: A Meta-analysis”.


Meanwhile, School of Communication MPhil student Volun Chen won the Top Student Paper award in the Organisational Communication Division with his paper entitled “’Am I Talking Too Much?’: The Relationship between Workplace Stressors, Co-rumination and Adjustment Outcomes”.
