HKBU School of Communication to release findings on local and non-local tertiary students' career perspectives on Wednesday

The HongCOMM Survey of the Centre for Media and Communication Research under the School of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) conducted a survey through a web questionnaire answered by 2,423 local and non-local tertiary students to learn more about their career perspectives. To obtain views on how the media and netizens perceive career prospects in Hong Kong, the Survey also used web-mining to analyse news reports and discussions related to career prospects in 16 local newspapers and seven major online forums.

The Survey focuses on four areas - the perceptions and expectations of local and non-local tertiary students towards their career, self-assessment of their own competence, how local tertiary students view Mainland students working in Hong Kong, and attitudes of local tertiary students towards working on the Mainland.

Detailed findings will be released at a press conference to be held on Wednesday. Details are as follows:

The Centre for Media and Communication Research of the School of Communication, HKBU launched the HongCOMM Survey (http://www.comm.hkbu.edu.hk/hongCOMM/) this year with the aim of conducting professional and scientific research and public opinion surveys on social issues through web-mining, computer-assisted web interviewing systems and computer-assisted telephone interviewing.
