Annual Letter
2018
Dear Communication Buddies,
Happy Chinese New Year!
Time flies. The School of Communication has entered its 50th year. Over the past half century, the alumni of the School of Communication have put its motto, “Truth is Virtue”, into practice in all its endeavours. The Department of Communication was founded by Professor Timothy Yu in 1968. As a pioneer in communication education in Hong Kong, it offered three programmes in journalism, broadcasting, and public relations and advertising, with film and television added in 1973. In 1991, the Department expanded into a School in size, quality and aspirations.
Last year, the School had a very meaningful year [2017 Major Events Review]. The year of 2018 will be even more brilliant! The School and its constituent units - Academy of Film, Department of Communication Studies, and Department of Journalism (see the details below) - will organise a series of celebratory activities to mark its 50th anniversary, including publishing a commemorative book, Comm Buddies. We sincerely invite you to share your unforgettable stories with us.
We would like to express our gratitude to the School’s faculty, staff and students for their efforts over the past year. On behalf of the School, I wish you and your family prosperity and good health.
