Eight US Pulitzer Prize Winners Make Their Appearance at HKBU



To advance journalistic education and practice in the Greater China region, the Department of Journalism under the School of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) has invited eight winners of the media industry’s most prestigious award, the Pulitzer Prize, to share their insights with University members, students, media professionals and the public at its 8th Pulitzer Prize Winners Workshop from 22 October to 26 October.

The eight Pulitzer Prize winners, including three winners who are responsible for #ME TOO winning articles of award 2018, two reporters who received the Panama Papers last year and were involved in the investigation and reporting, as well as a data journalist behind the “Spotlight”, will share with participants their winning stories.

The eight winners are listed as follows:
Ms Stephanie McCrummen, member of 2018 Investigative Reporting winning team
Ms Julia Moskin, member of 2018 Public Service winning team
Ms Kim Severson, member of 2018 Public Service winning team
Mr Bastian Obermayer, member of 2017 Explanatory Reporting winning team
Mr Frederik Obermaier, member of 2017 Explanatory Reporting winning team
Professor Jonathan Kaufman, winner of 1984 Local Investigative Specialized Reporting and oversaw Bloomberg’s 2015 Pulitzer Prize Explanatory Reporting
Mr Josh Haner, winner of 2014 Feature Photography
Professor Matt Carroll, member of 2003 Public Service winning team

A ceremony will be held tomorrow to mark the opening of the Workshop.

Following the opening ceremony, the eminent visitors will participate in a Forum to be held at 4pm on “Seeking Truth: Investigative Reporting and Public Responsibilities”. Members of the media and the public are welcome to join.
