Academy of Film holds masterclass with renowned directors
Two renowned local directors, Mr Derek Yee and Dr Johnnie To were invited to speak at the master classes organised by the Academy of Film of the School of Communication recently.
On 18 September 2015, more than 300 HKBU and secondary students attended the master class delivered by Mr Derek Yee who shared his valuable experience as an actor, scriptwriter, director and producer in the film industry over the past 40 years following the screening of his new film, I am Somebody. He also encouraged the students to brave all difficulties and challenges in pursuit of their dreams.
Dr Johnnie To, renowned film director and HKBU honorary doctorate, spoke at the master class held on 24 September 2015. After watching some highlights from his latest musical, Office, Dr To engaged in an inspiring conversation with Mr Thomas Shin, film critic, and Professor Emilie Yeh, Director of the Academy of Film. He also shared with over 400 HKBU and secondary school students the reasons behind his decision to produce a musical and all the new elements he adopted in the making of it.
