Film scholar Mr. Joel Lam's work showcased at Busan International Video Art Festival

Mr. Joel Lam, Senior Lecturer of the Academy of Film of the School of Communication, was invited to showcase his latest creative video work The Echoes of Circles at The 10th Busan International Video Art Festival (BIVAF) held in December 2013 in South Korea. He was also invited to attend the screening and engage in an exchange on professional experience with directors from around the world. This was the second time that his work has been showcased at BIVAF.

The Echoes of Circles is a story about three characters in different places who received a series of weird messages seemingly from nowhere. These messages provoke various introspections and responses in them. Meanwhile, the images display the reality of life in different places. When both images and characters’ stories come together mixed with the personal experience of audience, it produces unexpected multilayered imaginations and perspectives.

BIVAF has been introducing the work of young foreign video directors and Korean directors that are selected through open competition and recommended by foreign commissioners to gain interest, to encourage re-perception and to understand the flow of the contemporary field of video art.
