Journalism student wins Commendation Award in documentary contest

Broadcast Journalism Year 4 student Lin Bijun won the Commendation Award in the 2018 TVB Inter-Collegiate Documentary Competition with her work entitled “Wang Chau Three Villages”. For the fifth consecutive year, HKBU is the only Hong Kong institution to have students winning awards in this competition.

“Wang Chau Three Villages” records the story of residents of three villages in Wang Chau who have deep connections with the place where they live but they lose it during the government’s land takeover.

Bijun spent six months to produce the video which gives audiences a fresh perspective on this news event and enables them to understand the villagers’ feelings towards their homes. She thanked Senior Lecturers Ms Bonnie Chiu and Mr Bruce Lui and Part-time Lecturer Mr Sum Wan-wah for their guidance. The winning entry will be aired on TVB Jade on 15 September.
