Communication alumni honoured for distinguished service to society

A number of HKBU members were honoured by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on 1 July for their distinguished contribution to the community.

Dr Moses Cheng, former Chairman of the Council and the Court and member of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal.

Dr Charles Yeung, Honorary President of HKBU Foundation and Ms Leonie Ki, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, were bestowed the Gold Bauhinia Star.

Mr William Leung, former Treasurer of the Council and the Court, member of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation and an English Language and Literature alumnus, was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star.

Ms Scarlett Pong, Council member, Dr Simon Suen, Court member and member of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, Professor Raymond So, Dean of the School of Continuing Education (designate), Mr Tony Yue, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, and China Studies alumnus Mr Edmond Chung, were awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star.

Mr Lam Chor-chiu, Honorary Vice-president of the HKBU Foundation, and Communication alumnus Mr Chong Man-keung were granted the Medal of Honour.

Mr Ma Man-king, Communication alumnus, received the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Government/Public Service.

Meanwhile, Mr Leung Ka-wing, Communication alumnus, and Mr Lau Ka-keung, Honorary Court member, were appointed as Justices of the Peace.
