Dr Lo Wai-luk receives Award of Outstanding Service to Dance

Dr Lo Wai-luk, Associate Professor of the Academy of Film, School of Communication, won the Award of Outstanding Service to Dance for his book In Search of Hong Kong Dance at the 18th Hong Kong Dance Awards Presentation and Gala Performance.

Presented by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, the Dance Awards is one of the major annual events of the dance community in Hong Kong.

Dr Lo has been writing arts criticism since the mid-80s. Besides writing on film and drama, he started to write about dance in the 90s. In Search of Hong Kong Dance is his second book on dance criticism. The book consists of two parts: part one contains reviews on the creative works of major Hong Kong choreographers while part two is a long paper on the historical development and aesthetic exploration of Hong Kong Dance. The paper is the first cultural discourse on Hong Kong Dance.

Hong Kong Dance Alliance strives to promote recognition, development and mutual understanding of all forms of dance, and is the official Hong Kong organisation of the World Dance Alliance.
