1968
  Department of Communication established, with three majors in
Journalism, Radio-Television and Public Relation, offering
Diploma courses.

 
1969
  Student experimental newspaper The Young Reporter first
published.

 
1973
  Campus TV station set up, the first of its kind in the Southeast
Asia.

 
1981
  Sing Tao Communication Centre completed.

 
1987
  Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) in Communication program launched.

 
1988
  The Au Shue Hung Centre for Film and Television named.

 
1991
  The Department of Communication was upgraded as the School
of Communication with three departments: Film and Video
Department, Journalism Department and Communication
Studies Department offering options in Film and Video,
Journalism (English and Chinese Concentrations), and Public
Relations and Advertising.

 
1992
  M.Phil. in Communication started.

 
1993
  Applied Communication Studies option started. Film and Video
Department renamed Cinema and Television Department.

 
1994
  Digital Graphic Communication Option started.

 
1995
  Ph.D. in Communication started.

 
1996
  Master of Arts in Communication by coursework started.

 
1997
  Broadcast Journalism Concentration started.

 
2001
  Centre for Media and Communication Research established.

 
2004
  Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media started.

 
2006
  Master of Social Science in Media Management started.
 
2007
  Master of Arts in International Journalism Studies started.

 
2009
  Higher Diploma in Script Writing and Directing launched.
 
2009
