A Summit Conference on the Future of Public Relations in China

Centre for Media and Communication Research of Hong Kong Baptist University is organizing a two-day summit on the Future of Public Relations in China. Academic scholars, practitioners in public relations and others interested in this topic are welcome to attend the Summit. 

This Summit aims to bridge the academic and the professional from the U.S. and Greater China to fully explore the development of public relations in China. It critically examines ways to embrace the new/social media tools to influence constituencies, perspectives to advance an organization's crisis management in facing the complex financial challenges and risks, and viewpoints to step up as a competitive and responsible leader in the industry. 

Leading professionals and renowned scholars will address the above issues at the Summit. Public relations gurus and the leading scholars, James Gruing, Professor Emeritus, and Larissa Grunig, Professor Emerita, together with Mr. Alan VanderMolen, President, Asia Pacific from Edelman Public Relations, and Mr. Chris Liu, Partner and Chief Business Officer, Greater China from Ketchum Public Relations are the speakers on the keynote panels.  

In addition, Mr. ZHENG Yannong, Vice President of China International Public Relations Association, Professor GUO Hui-min, Vice President of University of International Relations, Dr. Linda Tsui, former President of Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals’ Association, Professor Wu Yi-Cheng, Director of Director of Graduate School of Mass Communication in Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, Mr. James Heimowitz, President & Chief Executive Officer North Asia, Chairman China, Practice Leader Public Affairs Asia, Hill & Knowlton, Ms. Georgeana Fung, CEO of Burson Marsteller, Hong Kong, Ms. Genevieve Hilton, Head of External Communications, Asia Pacific, BASF, Ms. Liza Yen, CEO of Elite Public Relations Group, and Mr. William Lai, Business Director of MSN Hong Kong, will discuss on the following themes:

This Summit emphasizes the value of exchanging ideas via a forum format that encourages the interaction between the audience and the session speakers from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the U.S. To facilitate this exchange, the Summit also features a sharing section with Prof. Grunigs. In the section, participants can actively discuss PR-related questions with the two PR gurus for real bridge-building between the academic and the profession.
